My Storage is Empty

I believe everyone has a closet or a room in their house filled with junk.  You know the things that have been collected along the way that once seemed so important are now wasting away in a room or closet collecting dust.  Whenever we even think of clearing out all the stuff it becomes overwhelming so we push the junk back in and close the door.

Sometimes in life the storage of our mind is filled to the brim with past mistakes, past hurts, shattered dreams, lost love, anger, shame, guilt and everything else in between.  Our storage is so full it leaves no room for the wonderful things that were originally planned for us. When our storage is empty there’s room for peace, joy, hope, unconditional love, forgiveness and the freedom to live purpose.

When we begin the process of cleaning out the clutter, our path in life becomes clearer.  There are many different ideas on how to begin and complete the process of cleaning “Our Storage”.  I have tried many of the ideas but the one suggested has worked the best for me.

I practice these 3 simple steps everyday in my life to ensure an empty storage.

  1. Release

Every day in the morning and the evening I release.  I release should of’s, could of’s, and would of’s.  I release any anger or frustration that has occurred.  I release perfectionism and allow space for mistakes and setbacks.  I release.

  1. Embrace

I choose to embrace everything that makes me flaws and all.   I chose to embrace the good and bad of love ones. I choose to embrace the serenity prayer…

“God grant me the serenity
to accept the things I cannot change;
Courage to change the things I can;
and wisdom to know the difference.
Living one day at a time;
Enjoying one moment at a time;
Accepting hardships as the pathway to peace;
Taking, as He did, this sinful world
As it is, not as I would have it;
Trusting that He will make all things right
If I surrender to His Will;
So that I may be reasonably happy in this life
And supremely happy with Him
Forever and ever in the next…Amen”

  1. Love

I have come to the realization that love has miraculous power.   Love has the power to change lives, encourage the hurting, motivate the weak, heal the brokenhearted, warm the unforgiving spirit and love the unlovable.  Love has power!  Love is a decision based on principle not a feeling.  I’ve chosen to love unconditionally and non-judgmentally.  I’ve tried it the other way around where in my spirit I harbored resentment towards some and attempted to love others…it just didn’t work for me I did not feel balance or whole.  But with my new perspective and practice of love I have experienced a tremendous amount of peace and joy.

Are you ready to clear your storage?

comfort-zone first step

Most of us don’t like to be place in uncomfortable situations.  I know I don’t …I feel it in all my senses when I have to do things outside of my comfort zone.  I usually don’t mind being placed within “my” limits of what is considered uncomfortable but when its push too far I revert back to my comfy place.  On my journey I’ve learned some of the greatest lessons in life one of the most valuable is this: In order to reach mountain top experiences and live an authentic life full of purpose you must be stretched to your discomfort zone.  Growth cannot and will not occur while you remain comfy! Once you reach that discomfort zone you must PUSH & FIGHT through it.  Eric Thomas a well known motivational speaker puts it like this “You must get pass your old you to get to your NEW you”.  This is not possible without feeling outside of your element.

Know today that your wildest dreams are possible…know today that you were designed to live a life of freedom of what others do, say or think…know that you are capable to achieve your goals.  PUSH & FIGHT through the uncomfortable.  One more important thing to remember is with each level of achievement towards your goals raises the stakes which means your uncomfortable zone last year or last month will be different… with each level comes different challenges…this my friends is the process to success… this is the process to accomplishing what use to seem impossible possible.

I have keloid skin sometimes referred to as keloid scar, which is a tough heaped-up scar that rises quite abruptly above the rest of the skin. Unlike scars, keloids do not regress over time.  Needless to say, if cut I’m left with a permanent mark which isn’t pretty.  Having scars is a forever reminder of what has occurred in your life. The scar on my face reminds me of childhood and my attempt to move an old TV with a broken antenna.   The scar on my knee brings back memories of being chased by a neighborhood dog.  Most recently the scars around my abdomen are reminders of the multiple surgeries due to my health which have officially taken away my bikini belly.

I’m pretty sure you can name off scars located on various parts of your body.  In addition to physical scars, we also have invisible scars … deep emotional, mental and spiritual cuts which have left marks.  Sometimes you can pretend that the internal scars don’t exist but eventually the truth is revealed.  I use to be ashamed of my outward and inward scars of life but that is no longer the case.  I now choose to view my scars as badges of honor, stories of how I’ve overcome obstacles.    When we choose to change our perspective on the scars we bear no longer do they carry emotional weight.    The scars now become stories to be shared with others that provide encouragement and empowerment that if you got through they can also.  Scars remind you of the strength carried within your spirit…there’s a song that says “What doesn’t kill you makes you stronger…I’m an overcomer”.

Carry no shame in your spirit because of the scars you have endured…your scars are testament that you’ve loved, gave and tried…that you are beautifully flawed with a story to tell…

Don’t Give Up

Life comes in seasons

And winters can be tough

It’s the time you feel like giving up

The hardships of winter bring wear and tear

Your soul cries out I can no longer bare

But the inner voice inside you says hold on

The journey is rough at times

Some seasons can be unkind

But the struggles build confidence and strength

Your so close to your goals

Your pressing forward is not in vain

Even if you feel your going insane

For it takes a little bit of insanity to achieve big dreams

Tenacity and perseverance to believe in self

Relentlessly pursuing the dreams you hold true

For there are many who start the race

Some make it half way

Others get close to the finish line

But the few who endure to the very end

Are the ones who purposed in their heart from the start

That no matter what they will not give up!!!

You Are Loved

In a world that places value on superficial things it can sometimes be challenging to maintain the confidence in your existence. There are some who have been waiting their entire life trying everything they can to only hear the words…You Are Loved. We all need to hear those three simple words. We need daily reminders of our value and importance. That there’s value for just being you. That you are unique and special no carbon copy. We need daily reminders that our existence serves a purpose…that we are not forgotten…that you matter.

I’ve come to say just in case you haven’t heard….YOU ARE LOVED!

“The hardest battle you are ever going to have to fight is the battle to be just you.” Leo Buscaglia

I use to care what other people thought of me

Cared about opinions cared about popularity

Cared about being liked cared about looking right

So much caring began to engulf me

Started suffocating out the freedom to be

Became bound by chains of self doubt

Fear of the stares if I stepped out

Slowly and slowly I reached my tipping point

Little by little I started to grow

The seed that was planted rooted deep within

Spoke to my spirit and said this has to end

You were designed for a purpose and this isn’t it

Designed to be authentic and boldly live it

Designed to empower and encourage others to do the same

Now days my caring has changed

Released from the burden of what others think

Experiencing the freedom of just being me
