Aerial View

aerial

Have you ever flown on an airplane and considered the view?

Ever notice all the houses down below?

From the aerial view everything looks the same from the mansion to the modest home.

You can not tell a persons “class” or “race”, bank account or social status.

Up in the air life looks different than below.

For up in the air humanity looks equal.

When Darkness Falls, Hold Your Light Even Higher

Your voice matters!!!

When Darkness Falls, Hold Your Light Even Higher

music The First 48 (Darkness Falls) by Hussle Crowe ft. Brasco
written & edited by Kendall F. Person

Darkness falls and you think you have won.
A young man’s spine is snapped
and a squad car explodes.
Public Servants band together
Looters and thieves
overtake peaceful protesters,
but the world is too busy to notice,
a humanitarian crises in Nepal,
another American city burns,
but this time, no one notices.

Darkness falls when a young man is shot dead.
Memories of a child
overwhelmed by supporters of the gunman.
Talking heads take to the air
no calls for calm,
vicious rhetoric instead.

Darkness falls and search for a young friend,
perhaps buried beneath the rubble
of a tremblor gone mad,

Tear Ducts

A Response to the Baltimore City Riots in Poem

screaming

Tears keep the surface of your eyeball clean and moist, and help protect your eye from damage.

I think our society needs to shed some tears.

Tears for our brothers and sisters who are living oppressed.

Tears for social equality.

Tears for fairness.

Tears for peace.

Tears for love.

Tears for unity.

Tears for non-judging.

Tears for hope.

If we cry maybe we can clean out the dirt and mess…if we cry loud enough will they hear?

Curtain Call

curtain-call-850

The things of this world lose and gain value every day.  One day something can be of importance and everyone is out to get it and then the next it’s gone with the wind.  How do you stay reminded of your value living in today’s society?

know self

Having an appreciation for your value begins with understanding and loving you.  Do you really know yourself? What’s your personality and temperament? What’s your strengths and weakness?  What’s your style of communication? What’s your love language? How does your personality and temperament interact with others?  Are you and Introvert or Extrovert?  Learning about who you are helps you to understand how you interact with the world around you. The better understanding we have of self the more capable we are of appreciating our authenticity.

Once you learn who you are the next step is to love that person.  Love is an action word, which means you have to ask yourself what actions of love do I feed myself? Is the environment , friendships, relationships that I am in help or hinder my ability to love me.  Are the life-style practices I choose healthy or unhealthy actions of love?

Tys_SelfWorth_Quote

I’ve learned on my journey I had a false sense of my value.  Therefore I also was choosing the wrong actions to feed myself love.  Once I began to understand and embrace me, I also changed the unhealthy patterns that did not feed my soul with love.  My focus in life became appreciating how my Creator designed me and sharing the testimony of my journey in hopes of inspiring others to do the same.  The more you embrace your authentic self and unapologetically live and speak your truth it empowers others to also share their voice.  And when everyone is living their authentic lives a beautiful song is heard in this world.  When people are living out their purpose lives and communities are transformed, change for the good occurs, the true power of healing is unleashed upon the world.

A Short Story about the People Pleaser Company

I’m finally leaving said Nina to her sister.  After 20 years at the People Pleaser Company it’s time for me to go.  Her sister said did they give you a nice parting package? Nope. I wasn’t given a retirement package, no severance pay and I’m leaving without health insurance.  Wow said her sister, well did they at least throw you a well wishes party? Nope, not even that said Nina, when I told my supervisor of my decision there was actually tension.  Even my colleagues were upset about my choice and thought it to be insensitive of me to leave them in their time of need.  This is unbelievable said the sister…I mean what were they thinking….you can’t spend your entire life at the People Pleaser Company.  I agree said Nina, I actually have already started looking for another job. The sister asked how has the new job search been going?  Great, said Nina! I’ve already had one call back from a good prospect for the direction I want to take my life.  Her sister said I’m so happy for you. What’s the name of the company? Nina answered and said The Healthy Me Company. And I think I’m going to really enjoy working there.
